Finance Ticker Search API
Returns instruments matching a name, each with the exact id to pass to quote, plus its ticker, display name, exchange, live price, and instrument type.
GET /v1/finance/ticker-searchLast updated November 2026Maintained by the SocialCrawl team
When to use the Finance Ticker Search API
Use it to turn a company or asset name into the symbol that quote requires.
From the API reference
Searches Google Finance for financial instruments matching a name and returns a unified QuoteList: each row carries the id (e.g. 'AAPL:NASDAQ', '.INX:INDEXSP', 'EUR-USD') to feed into /v1/finance/quote, plus the ticker, display name, exchange, live price, and type discriminator. Spans stocks, ETFs, indices, and forex/crypto pairs (asset pairs populate quote.pair, with a null ticker). Filter by instrument class with category. Read live from the Google Finance SERP (~2-3s).

What can you do with the Ticker Search API?
The Ticker Search endpoint gives you structured Finance data with computed fields in a single request. No scraping infrastructure to build or maintain.
Example Request
# GET /v1/finance/ticker-search: 1 credit per call. Cache hits are free and failed calls are refunded.
# Check the price first for 0 credits: add dry_run=1 to the query. Nothing is fetched or charged.
# --max-time 28: this endpoint's measured p99 latency x 1.5.
# --retry 3: retries timeouts, 429 and 5xx, honoring Retry-After.
# -o response.json keeps only the final attempt's body.
# One Idempotency-Key per request, reused on every retry, so a retried call is never charged twice.
