Finance News API

Returns recent news for one instrument: headline, absolute UTC publish time, publisher, domain, article URL, and the largest thumbnail. Same row shape as google_news/search, so the two merge cleanly.

GET /v1/finance/news

Last updated November 2026Maintained by the SocialCrawl team

When to use the Finance News API

Use it to find why a price moved. Pass a bare ticker ('AAPL') or quote's 'AAPL:NASDAQ' form; the suffix is ignored. This platform is delayed.

From the API reference

Returns recent news articles for one financial instrument as a unified NewsArticleList: title, absolute publish time (UTC), publisher, source domain, article URL, and the widest available thumbnail. Pass the instrument in keyword as a bare ticker (AAPL) or in the TICKER:EXCHANGE form used by /v1/finance/quote (AAPL:NASDAQ) - the exchange suffix is stripped for you. Rows use the same canonical shape as /v1/google_news/search, so finance news and news-search results join on one row type. published_at is always an absolute second-precision ISO-8601 UTC instant, never a localized "2 hours ago" string. Prices and instrument data are delayed; see the platform guide for per-exchange delays.

Finance API

What can you do with the News API?

The News endpoint gives you structured Finance data with computed fields in a single request. No scraping infrastructure to build or maintain.

Example Request

# GET /v1/finance/news: 1 credit per call. Cache hits are free and failed calls are refunded.
# Check the price first for 0 credits: add dry_run=1 to the query. Nothing is fetched or charged.
# --max-time 60: the API's own time limit for this endpoint.
# --retry 3: retries timeouts, 429 and 5xx, honoring Retry-After.
# -o response.json keeps only the final attempt's body.
# One Idempotency-Key per request, reused on every retry, so a retried call is never charged twice.

Parameters

ParameterRequiredDescription
keywordYesInstrument ticker. A bare symbol ('AAPL', '005930.KS') or the 'TICKER:EXCHANGE' form from ticker-search ('AAPL:NASDAQ'); the exchange suffix is ignored.
limitNoMaximum articles to return, 1 to 50. Defaults to the upstream batch size.
sinceNoOnly rows published on or after this date: YYYY-MM-DD (midnight UTC) or an ISO 8601 timestamp. Rows older than it are left off each page. This list is not in date order, so the walk does not stop at the date: keep following `next_cursor`, and each page costs what a page costs even when every row on it is filtered out. A row with no date is kept. `published_after`, `start_date`, `from_date`, `publish_time` (`yesterday`, `this-week`, `this-month`, `last-3-months`, `last-6-months`) and `max_age_days` are accepted and applied as `since`.
untilNoOnly rows published on or before this date: YYYY-MM-DD (that whole UTC day is included) or an ISO 8601 timestamp. Newer rows are left off each page and the walk does not stop, so older pages follow. A row with no date is kept. `published_before`, `end_date` and `to_date` are accepted and applied as `until`.

Contact us
What does the finance news API return?
It returns recent news for one financial instrument as a list of articles. Each has a title, an absolute publish time in UTC, the publisher, the source domain, the article URL and the widest available thumbnail. Rows use the same shape as /v1/google_news/search, so both feeds join on one row type.
How do I get news for a stock ticker?
Send a GET request to /v1/finance/news with keyword set to the ticker, such as AAPL or 005930.KS, and an x-api-key header. The TICKER:EXCHANGE form from ticker-search, such as AAPL:NASDAQ, also works because the exchange suffix is stripped.
How many articles can I get per call?
Set limit from 1 to 50. Without it you get the upstream's batch size. There is no second page: the upstream returns one fixed-size batch per instrument, so limit only caps it.
Is this a Google Finance news API?
It sits on the same finance platform as the quote, markets and ticker-search endpoints, and it takes a ticker rather than a free-text query. For news on a topic that is not a ticker, use /v1/google_news/search, which returns rows in the same shape.
Is published_at a real timestamp?
Yes. published_at is always an absolute, second-precision ISO-8601 UTC instant, never a localized string like '2 hours ago', so you can sort and de-duplicate articles directly.
How much does the finance news API cost?
Each call costs 1 credit on the standard tier, whatever the article count. Credits for failed or empty calls are refunded automatically, and there is no subscription. New accounts start with 100 free credits, about 100 calls.
