Instagram Search Mentions API

Returns Instagram posts by other accounts that tag an account or @mention it in a reel caption, merged newest first, each labelled tag, mention or link.

GET /v1/instagram/search/mentions

Last updated November 2026Maintained by the SocialCrawl team

When to use the Instagram Search Mentions API

Use it to track who tags or mentions a brand on Instagram, including brands whose Tagged tab is curated; since/until keep rows inside a date window.

From the API reference

Returns Instagram posts by other accounts that tag an account or @mention it in the caption. Each call runs two searches: the account's Tagged tab (/v1/instagram/tagged, match_kind tag) and reels whose caption mentions @handle (/v1/instagram/search/reels, kept only when the caption carries the @handle or links the profile, match_kind mention or link). The Tagged tab is the one Instagram surface for posts that tag an account, and an account that approves its tags by hand can show older posts there, which is why the caption search runs as well. The account's own posts are left out unless include_self=true. Rows are merged newest first and a post found twice appears once. Each row in data.items is exactly the row the named search endpoint returns, with its post and computed blocks, plus match_kind. since and until keep only rows published inside the window. Send data.next_cursor back as cursor for the next page; it is null when every search has run out. data.legs reports each search: its endpoint, status, rows returned and kept, credits and request_id. data.excluded counts the rows left out (unmatched, self, duplicate, outside_window). Each call is one page of each search at its own price: 5 credits for the Tagged page and 1 for the reels page, so at most 6.
