Instagram Music Trending API
Returns a chart of licensed tracks trending on Instagram, each with title, artist, audio and cover artwork URLs, and usage details.
GET /v1/instagram/music/trendingLast updated November 2026Maintained by the SocialCrawl team
When to use the Instagram Music Trending API
Use it to spot sounds worth posting with. It takes no region: the chart follows the viewing account's market. A 503 is refunded, so retry.
From the API reference
Returns a chart of licensed audio tracks trending on Instagram. Each track includes its title, artist, audio and cover-artwork URLs, and usage metadata: useful for spotting sounds to ride for reach. Takes no parameters, and there is no region or country option: Instagram builds this chart for the account viewing it, so the chart reflects that account's market and cannot be selected. Every response carries data.fetched_at, the time the chart was read from Instagram, and data.stale: false when it was read on this call, true when Instagram showed only its royalty-free sound library on this call and the most recent chart read in the last 6 hours is returned instead (the chart moves slowly; check fetched_at if you need it fresher). When no chart has been read in the last 6 hours either, the call returns 503 and your credits are refunded; retry after a minute. For region-scoped Instagram data, use /v1/instagram/search/location and /v1/instagram/location/posts. A fresh read can take 20 to 40 seconds, so allow at least 50 seconds before timing out.

What can you do with the Music Trending API?
The Music Trending endpoint gives you structured Instagram data with computed fields in a single request. No scraping infrastructure to build or maintain.
Example Request
# GET /v1/instagram/music/trending: 5 credits per call. Cache hits are free and failed calls are refunded.
# Check the price first for 0 credits: add dry_run=1 to the query. Nothing is fetched or charged.
# --max-time 19: this endpoint's measured p99 latency x 1.5.
# --retry 3: retries timeouts, 429 and 5xx, honoring Retry-After.
# -o response.json keeps only the final attempt's body.
# One Idempotency-Key per request, reused on every retry, so a retried call is never charged twice.
