Instagram Location API
Returns an Instagram location's public profile: name, category, address, phone, website, opening hours, the number of posts tagged there and coordinates when known.
GET /v1/instagram/locationLast updated November 2026Maintained by the SocialCrawl team
When to use the Instagram Location API
Use it to enrich a location.pk from /v1/instagram/search/location. Use /v1/instagram/location/posts for the posts tagged there.
From the API reference
Returns the public profile of an Instagram location (a place posts can be tagged at): name, category, address, phone, price level, its Instagram page as place.url, and on place.ext the number of public posts tagged there (posts_count), the venue's own website, city and postal_code, the weekly opening hours, its facebook_places_id and the username of the Instagram business account linked to the place (business_username). Pass location_id, the location.pk returned by /v1/instagram/search/location. Coordinates are filled only when Instagram's place search lists this exact place, and are null otherwise. Fields a venue leaves blank are null. An unknown id returns 404 and is not charged. Use /v1/instagram/location/posts to read the posts tagged there.

What can you do with the Location API?
The Location endpoint gives you structured Instagram data with computed fields in a single request. No scraping infrastructure to build or maintain.
Example Request
# GET /v1/instagram/location: 1 credit per call. Cache hits are free and failed calls are refunded.
# Check the price first for 0 credits: add dry_run=1 to the query. Nothing is fetched or charged.
# --max-time 60: the API's own time limit for this endpoint.
# --retry 3: retries timeouts, 429 and 5xx, honoring Retry-After.
# -o response.json keeps only the final attempt's body.
# One Idempotency-Key per request, reused on every retry, so a retried call is never charged twice.
