YouTube Channels API
Returns channel details for up to 1000 channel ids in one request; each row is the same channel object the single channel endpoint returns.
POST /v1/youtube/channelsLast updated November 2026Maintained by the SocialCrawl team
When to use the YouTube Channels API
Use it when you already hold a list of channel ids; the single channel endpoint is the one that accepts a handle or a channel URL.
From the API reference
Fetches full details for up to 1000 YouTube channels by id in a single POST request. Each item is the unified channel (author) object. Body: { ids: string[], include_localizations?: boolean }. Metered per 50-id chunk; a request that resolves no channels at all returns 200 with an empty list at 0 credits.

What can you do with the Channels API?
The Channels endpoint gives you structured YouTube data with computed fields in a single request. No scraping infrastructure to build or maintain.
Example Request
# POST /v1/youtube/channels: Metered: holds 5 credits per call up front and refunds what the call does not use. Cache hits are free and failed calls are refunded.
# Check the price first for 0 credits: add dry_run=1 to the query. Nothing is fetched or charged.
# --max-time 10: this endpoint's measured p99 latency x 1.5.
# --retry 3: retries timeouts, 429 and 5xx, honoring Retry-After.
# -o response.json keeps only the final attempt's body.
# One Idempotency-Key per request, reused on every retry, so a retried call is never charged twice.
IDEMPOTENCY_KEY=$(od -An -N16 -tx1 /dev/urandom | tr -d ' \n')

| Parameter | Required | Description |
|---|---|---|
| ids | Yes | JSON array of BARE YouTube channel ids (24 characters, starting with 'UC', e.g. 'UC_x5XG1OV2P6uZZ5FSM9Ttw'), 1 to 1000 per request. Unlike GET /v1/youtube/channel, channel URLs/handles are not accepted here. |
| hl | No | Preferred response language for localized text (ISO 639-1, e.g. 'en', 'ko'). |
| include_localizations | No | When true, adds author.ext.localizations to each item: a map from language code to the localized { title, description }. Present only on channels whose owner localized them. |
What does the YouTube Channels API return?
Every response follows one unified schema. Here is a real, unmodified response body, so you can see the exact fields you get back before spending a credit.
