TikTok Hashtag API
Returns TikTok's own record for a hashtag, with its display name, its description where one exists, the live total views under the tag, and how many videos carry it.
GET /v1/tiktok/hashtagLast updated November 2026Maintained by the SocialCrawl team
When to use the TikTok Hashtag API
Use it to size a tag before pulling its posts. Pass the tag name and the id lookup happens for you, or pass hashtag_id when you already hold it.
From the API reference
Returns TikTok's own record for a hashtag: its display name, its description where the platform has written one, and the two numbers that size it. post.engagement.views is the total views of videos under the tag and it is live, moving between calls minutes apart. post.ext.video_count is how many videos carry the tag. Pass either the tag name or, if you already have it, TikTok's numeric hashtag id. Use /v1/tiktok/search/hashtag to read the videos themselves.

What can you do with the Hashtag API?
The Hashtag endpoint gives you structured TikTok data with computed fields in a single request. No scraping infrastructure to build or maintain.
Example Request
# GET /v1/tiktok/hashtag: 1 credit per call. Cache hits are free and failed calls are refunded.
# Check the price first for 0 credits: add dry_run=1 to the query. Nothing is fetched or charged.
# --max-time 10: this endpoint's measured p99 latency x 1.5.
# --retry 3: retries timeouts, 429 and 5xx, honoring Retry-After.
# -o response.json keeps only the final attempt's body.
# One Idempotency-Key per request, reused on every retry, so a retried call is never charged twice.
