Reddit Subreddit Details API
Returns a subreddit's own details: subscriber count, active user count, description, creation date, rules, and icon URL.
GET /v1/reddit/subreddit/detailsLast updated November 2026Maintained by the SocialCrawl team
When to use the Reddit Subreddit Details API
Use it to size up a community before pulling its posts; the name is case-sensitive here, so spell it exactly as Reddit does.
From the API reference
Returns detailed information about a subreddit including the subscriber count at author.followers, weekly active users and weekly contributions at author.ext.weekly_active_users and author.ext.weekly_contributions, the description, creation date, rules, and subreddit icon URL. The subscriber count and Reddit's own community language tag at author.ext.language come from a second source that runs only when the main one leaves the count empty, so on a small share of calls they are null while every other field is unchanged. The name can be sent in any casing: askreddit is resolved to Reddit's own spelling AskReddit and returns the whole object.

What can you do with the Subreddit Details API?
The Subreddit Details endpoint gives you structured Reddit data with computed fields in a single request. No scraping infrastructure to build or maintain.
Example Request
# GET /v1/reddit/subreddit/details: 1 credit per call. Cache hits are free and failed calls are refunded.
# Check the price first for 0 credits: add dry_run=1 to the query. Nothing is fetched or charged.
# --max-time 52: this endpoint's measured p99 latency x 1.5.
# --retry 3: retries timeouts, 429 and 5xx, honoring Retry-After.
# -o response.json keeps only the final attempt's body.
# One Idempotency-Key per request, reused on every retry, so a retried call is never charged twice.
