Prism Mentions API

Returns public posts and comments that mention a handle or contain a link, from the first page of each search that can find them.

GET /v1/prism/mentions

Last updated November 2026Maintained by the SocialCrawl team

When to use the Prism Mentions API

Use it to find public mentions of an account or a link when you do not already know the post. It is a first page, not an index.

Not for brand-wide volume, trend or sentiment, since it reads only the first page of each search (prism/brand-mentions, content_analysis/search).

From the API reference

Pass handle (the @ is optional), or url (a link or a link prefix), or name on its own. platforms defaults to twitter, reddit, facebook. Opt in to instagram for posts that tag the handle, or web (url only) for a web page that contains the link. since is YYYY-MM-DD. include_self defaults to false and drops the account's own rows. A handle counts as an @handle (u/handle on Reddit) or as a link to the handle's profile or one of its posts (x.com/handle, instagram.com/handle, tiktok.com/@handle and the like). Each kept row has match_kind reply, retweet, mention, tag or link (kept for a profile or post link, named in matched_url). Unverified rows are dropped and counted in dropped_unverified. Url mode adds first_seen for the link. name is judged; a handle or a url is checked in code and is not judged. If that judgment is unavailable the rows are kept and warnings says why. Instagram comments on unknown posts cannot be searched, and Instagram caption mentions cannot. TikTok comments on unknown posts cannot be searched. Threads search is weak: measured 23/09/2026 it returned no row containing the handle, so Threads is not searched. Facebook post search returned no row containing the handle or the link on the same day, so Facebook is not searched. TikTok search for @handle returned no row containing that @, so TikTok is not searched. Bluesky has no search lane. LinkedIn is not covered. Private or deleted content is not covered. This is a first page of each search, not an index.

Prism API

What can you do with the Mentions API?

The Mentions endpoint gives you structured Prism data with computed fields in a single request. No scraping infrastructure to build or maintain.

Example Request

# GET /v1/prism/mentions: Metered: holds 3 credits per call up front and refunds what the call does not use. Cache hits are free and failed calls are refunded.
# Check the price first for 0 credits: add dry_run=1 to the query. Nothing is fetched or charged.
# --max-time 60: the API's own time limit for this endpoint.
# --retry 3: retries timeouts, 429 and 5xx, honoring Retry-After.
# -o response.json keeps only the final attempt's body.

What does the Prism Mentions API return?
Returns public posts and comments that mention a handle or contain a link, from the first page of each search that can find them. The response uses the same JSON envelope as every SocialCrawl endpoint, with the data, credits_used and request_id fields.
When should I use the Prism Mentions endpoint?
Use it to find public mentions of an account or a link when you do not already know the post. It is a first page, not an index. Not for brand-wide volume, trend or sentiment, since it reads only the first page of each search (prism/brand-mentions, content_analysis/search).
How much does the Prism Mentions API cost?
The price depends on the request, from 1 to 9 credits per call. Every new account gets 100 free credits. Credits for failed or empty calls are refunded automatically, and there is no subscription.
What parameters does the Prism Mentions API need?
Identify the target with one of handle, url, name. It also accepts 6 optional parameters, all listed on this page.
How do I call the Prism Mentions API?
Send a GET request to https://www.socialcrawl.dev/v1/prism/mentions?handle=nasa with your API key in the x-api-key header. An Authorization: Bearer header works too.
