Naver Local Search API

Returns Korean places from Naver Maps: name, link, category, phone number, district and street addresses, and map coordinates.

GET /v1/naver/local/search

Last updated November 2026Maintained by the SocialCrawl team

When to use the Naver Local Search API

Use it for Korean business listings, capped at 5 results per call; for Google listings use google/business/info.

From the API reference

Searches map.naver.com places. Korean business / point-of-interest catalog. Returns places under data.items[] with title, link, category, description, telephone, address (legal-district), roadAddress (street), mapx / mapy (KATEC coordinates). Note: this corpus behaves differently from the others. display is capped at 5 and Naver SILENTLY CLAMPS anything higher rather than erroring, and start is ignored entirely, so **local cannot be paginated**: every page returns the same first 5 places. Verified live 2026-08-03.

Naver API

What can you do with the Local Search API?

The Local Search endpoint gives you structured Naver data with computed fields in a single request. No scraping infrastructure to build or maintain.

Example Request

# GET /v1/naver/local/search: 1 credit per call. Cache hits are free and failed calls are refunded.
# Check the price first for 0 credits: add dry_run=1 to the query. Nothing is fetched or charged.
# --max-time 60: the API's own time limit for this endpoint.
# --retry 3: retries timeouts, 429 and 5xx, honoring Retry-After.
# -o response.json keeps only the final attempt's body.
# One Idempotency-Key per request, reused on every retry, so a retried call is never charged twice.

Parameters

ParameterRequiredDescription
queryYesFree-text search term (UTF-8). Required.
displayNoNumber of places to return. This corpus caps at 5 and **defaults to 1**, so omitting it returns a single place. Values above 5 are silently clamped by Naver rather than rejected.
sortNoSort order. Accepted values: random|comment (display max 5, start max 1). Defaults to `sim` (relevance) when the corpus supports sort. Values outside this corpus's domain are rejected with a 400 before any upstream call. (random | comment)

Contact us
How do I search Naver Local places with an API?
Send a GET request to /v1/naver/local/search with a place or business keyword in the query parameter. SocialCrawl returns Korean POI results including name, category, address, road address, telephone, and KATEC map coordinates under data.items.
Why is the Naver Local display limited to 5?
Naver returns at most five places per call and ignores start, so each query has one page. A display above 5 is clamped to 5 rather than rejected, and display defaults to 1, so send display=5 to get all five.
What fields does the Naver Local endpoint return?
Each item includes title, link, category, description, telephone, address, roadAddress, and mapx/mapy coordinates in the KATEC system. Convert mapx/mapy to WGS84 if you need standard latitude and longitude for mapping.
What sort options does Naver Local support?
sort accepts random (the default ordering) and comment (sorted by number of reviews). Use comment to surface the most-reviewed businesses for a query, handy for ranking restaurants, cafes, or shops by visible popularity.
How much does the Naver Local API cost?
Each Naver Local search costs 1 credit on the standard tier. New accounts get 100 free credits with no credit card required, so you can run roughly 100 place lookups before paying. Note the 5-result cap when budgeting calls.
