Facebook API

What can you do with the Events Search API?

The Events Search endpoint gives you structured Facebook data with computed fields in a single request. No scraping infrastructure to build or maintain.

Example Request

# GET /v1/facebook/events/search: 1 credit per page. Cache hits are free and failed calls are refunded.
# Check the price first for 0 credits: add dry_run=1 to the query. Nothing is fetched or charged.
# --max-time 60: the API's own time limit for this endpoint.
# --retry 3: retries timeouts, 429 and 5xx, honoring Retry-After.
# -o response.json keeps only the final attempt's body.
# One Idempotency-Key per request, reused on every retry, so a retried call is never charged twice.
# Next page: send pagination.next_cursor back as cursor until pagination.has_more is false.
IDEMPOTENCY_KEY=$(od -An -N16 -tx1 /dev/urandom | tr -d ' \n')

Parameters

ParameterRequiredDescription
queryYesEvent name or keyword to search for.
cursorNoCursor returned by the previous response for pagination.
max_pagesNo1 to 50 (default 1, or 50 when `max_items` or `max_credits` is sent). Walk up to this many pages in one call and return the rows from all of them. Each page walked is billed exactly as one call to this endpoint (a cached page is free) and counts against your rate limit; its charge and any refund are recorded under the page's own request id, listed in `data.walk.request_ids`. The walk stops early at the last page, or when the request's time budget runs low; `data.walk.stopped` says why (`end`, `max_pages`, `max_items`, `max_credits`, `time_budget`, `page_error`) and `pagination.next_cursor` continues from where it stopped.
max_itemsNo1 to 5000. Get more in one call: keep walking pages until the response holds at least this many rows, then stop with `data.walk.stopped: "max_items"`. The last page is returned whole (it was billed), so `data.items` can hold up to one page more than this, and `pagination.next_cursor` resumes right after it without skipping a row. Walks up to 50 pages unless `max_pages` says fewer; each page is billed as one call (a cached page is free). Add `max_credits` to cap the spend. A long walk can stop on the time budget first (`"time_budget"`): send the returned cursor with the same params to continue.
max_creditsNo1 to 100000. The most this call may spend, across every page it walks. A page starts only while the credits already spent plus that page's price (or, when higher, the most any page of this walk has cost) still fit, so the call never goes past it; the walk then stops with `data.walk.stopped: "max_credits"` and the cursor to resume. Sent alone, it walks as far as the budget goes (up to 50 pages). A value below the price of one page is a free 400 whose `error.details.page_credits` names that price. Credits a row join (`include=`) adds are known only once a page has run, so page 1 is checked against its own price.

FAQ

Have a question? We got answers

Find answers to frequently asked questions about SocialCrawl's API, pricing, and capabilities.

Contact us
How do I search Facebook events by keyword?
Send a GET request to /v1/facebook/events/search with a query. The response returns matching events with their name, date, location, and cover image. It costs 1 credit per call.
How is this different from the city events endpoint?
/v1/facebook/events lists events for a specific city page, while events/search finds events across Facebook by keyword. Use search when you are tracking a topic, artist, or brand rather than a single location.
How do I paginate the results?
Pass the cursor value from the response as the cursor param on the next call to fetch the next page of matches. Keep going until the cursor is empty to walk the full result set.
What can I search for?
The query param takes any keyword: an event name, a topic, a performer, or a brand. It returns the events Facebook matches to that term, which is ideal for building a topic-based event discovery feed.
How much does an event search cost?
Each search call is 1 credit on the standard tier, regardless of how many events come back. New accounts start with 100 free credits and no card, so you can test queries first.
