eBay Search API

Returns eBay listings with item ID, price, seller rating, and units sold. completed_items finds ended listings. sold_items returns 400 before billing; it requires a private upstream session cookie.

GET /v1/ebay/search

Last updated November 2026Maintained by the SocialCrawl team

When to use the eBay Search API

Use it to scan active or ended marketplace listings, then pull full detail by item id. Sold-comps search is temporarily unavailable.

From the API reference

Returns eBay listings matching a keyword, 60 per page on an active search, each with its item id, title, price, original price where the listing is discounted, currency, condition, image, seller handle, seller feedback percentage and count, units sold, buying format, and the listing URL. completed_items returns ended listings, and free_shipping restricts results to listings with free delivery. sold_items is temporarily rejected before billing because the upstream now requires a private eBay session cookie, which SocialCrawl does not accept or forward. Feed a returned item id into GET /v1/ebay/product for the full listing including seller reputation depth. When crawling, note that the result total eBay reports is an estimate that changes between pages, so it is not returned here: paginate until a page comes back empty.

eBay API

What can you do with the Search API?

The Search endpoint gives you structured eBay data with computed fields in a single request. No scraping infrastructure to build or maintain.

Example Request

# GET /v1/ebay/search: 5 credits per page. Cache hits are free and failed calls are refunded.
# Check the price first for 0 credits: add dry_run=1 to the query. Nothing is fetched or charged.
# --max-time 60: the API's own time limit for this endpoint.
# --retry 3: retries timeouts, 429 and 5xx, honoring Retry-After.
# -o response.json keeps only the final attempt's body.
# One Idempotency-Key per request, reused on every retry, so a retried call is never charged twice.
# Next page: send pagination.next_cursor back as cursor until pagination.has_more is false.
IDEMPOTENCY_KEY=$(od -An -N16 -tx1 /dev/urandom | tr -d ' \n')

Parameters worth sending

  • country=US Results for one country.

Parameters

ParameterRequiredDescription
queryYesFree-text listing search, for example airpods pro or vintage seiko.
countryNoeBay marketplace as a two-letter country code: US (ebay.com, default), GB, AU, CA, DE, FR, IT, ES, IE, AT, CH, NL, BE, PL, SG, MY, PH, HK, or MX. The marketplace sets the listing pool, language, and currency. (US | GB | AU | CA | DE | FR | IT | ES | IE | AT | CH | NL | BE | PL | SG | MY | PH | HK | MX)
pageNoPage number, starting at 1. Prefer the universal cursor parameter.
sort_byNoResult ordering: best_match (default), price_low, price_high, newly_listed, or ending_soonest. (best_match | price_low | price_high | newly_listed | ending_soonest)
conditionNoRestrict to one item condition: new, refurbished, or used. (new | refurbished | used)
buying_formatNoRestrict to one sale type: auction, buy_it_now, or accepts_offers. (auction | buy_it_now | accepts_offers)
show_onlyNoRestrict results with completed_items or free_shipping; combine supported values with a comma. sold_items is temporarily unavailable and is rejected before billing because the upstream requires a private eBay session cookie. SocialCrawl does not accept or forward session cookies.
min_priceNoLowest price to include. Applied by eBay and approximate, so filter on product.price.current if you need a hard bound.
max_priceNoHighest price to include. Applied by eBay and approximate, so filter on product.price.current if you need a hard bound.
aspectsNoCategory-specific item aspect filter taken from a previous response, for example Brand:Apple.
max_pagesNo1 to 50 (default 1, or 50 when `max_items` or `max_credits` is sent). Walk up to this many pages in one call and return the rows from all of them. Each page walked is billed exactly as one call to this endpoint (a cached page is free) and counts against your rate limit; its charge and any refund are recorded under the page's own request id, listed in `data.walk.request_ids`. The walk stops early at the last page, or when the request's time budget runs low; `data.walk.stopped` says why (`end`, `max_pages`, `max_items`, `max_credits`, `time_budget`, `page_error`) and `pagination.next_cursor` continues from where it stopped.
max_itemsNo1 to 5000. Get more in one call: keep walking pages until the response holds at least this many rows, then stop with `data.walk.stopped: "max_items"`. The last page is returned whole (it was billed), so `data.items` can hold up to one page more than this, and `pagination.next_cursor` resumes right after it without skipping a row. Walks up to 50 pages unless `max_pages` says fewer; each page is billed as one call (a cached page is free). Add `max_credits` to cap the spend. A long walk can stop on the time budget first (`"time_budget"`): send the returned cursor with the same params to continue.
max_creditsNo1 to 100000. The most this call may spend, across every page it walks. A page starts only while the credits already spent plus that page's price (or, when higher, the most any page of this walk has cost) still fit, so the call never goes past it; the walk then stops with `data.walk.stopped: "max_credits"` and the cursor to resume. Sent alone, it walks as far as the budget goes (up to 50 pages). A value below the price of one page is a free 400 whose `error.details.page_credits` names that price. Credits a row join (`include=`) adds are known only once a page has run, so page 1 is checked against its own price.

FAQ

Have a question? We got answers

Find answers to frequently asked questions about SocialCrawl's API, pricing, and capabilities.

Contact us
How many listings come back per call?
Sixty, the densest listing page in this API, which makes it the cheapest way to scan a marketplace at depth.
Can I filter by item condition?
Yes: new, opened box, refurbished or used. You can also restrict to auction, buy it now or accepts offers with the buying format filter.
Do search rows include the seller?
Yes, with the seller handle, feedback percentage and count, and units sold, so you can rank results by seller quality before pulling any detail.
Is the result total returned?
No. eBay's total is an estimate that more than halved between consecutive pages when measured, so publishing it would mislead. Paginate until a page is empty.
How do I sort eBay search results?
By best match, price low to high, price high to low, newly listed or ending soonest. Best match is the default.
