GET /v1/douyin/profile

Last updated November 2026Maintained by the SocialCrawl team

When to use the Douyin Profile API

Use it to track a creator's follower count over time. It is the cheapest Douyin call, because it fetches no videos.

From the API reference

Returns one Douyin creator: nickname, Douyin ID, bio, avatar, follower and following counts, total likes received, video count, IP region and verification status. Accepts a profile URL, a bare sec_uid, or the numeric user ID. This is the cheapest way to track a follower count on Douyin. For the creator's videos call GET /v1/douyin/profile/posts.

Douyin API

What can you do with the Profile API?

The Profile endpoint gives you structured Douyin data with computed fields in a single request. No scraping infrastructure to build or maintain.

Example Request

# GET /v1/douyin/profile: 6 credits per call. Cache hits are free and failed calls are refunded.
# Check the price first for 0 credits: add dry_run=1 to the query. Nothing is fetched or charged.
# --max-time 60: the API's own time limit for this endpoint.
# --retry 3: retries timeouts, 429 and 5xx, honoring Retry-After.
# -o response.json keeps only the final attempt's body.
# One Idempotency-Key per request, reused on every retry, so a retried call is never charged twice.

Contact us
What identifies a Douyin creator?
A sec_uid, the MS4wLjAB... string inside a profile URL, or the numeric user ID. You can pass the full profile URL, a share link, or either identifier on its own.
Is this the cheapest way to track Douyin followers?
Yes. This endpoint fetches profile metadata only and no videos, so it is the lowest-cost Douyin call. Poll it on a schedule to build a follower time series.
Why is author.username often null?
Most Douyin creators never choose a handle, and Douyin auto-assigns them a numeric one. A number is not a username you could @-mention, so it is not published as one. Use author.id to join records.
Is the verified flag reliable?
Yes. It reflects a real Douyin verification badge, cross-checked against a second independent source. An ordinary account with no badge comes back false rather than being mislabelled as verified.
What does the creator's region tell me?
Douyin publishes the province its servers see the account posting from, which is a stronger signal than a self-declared bio location. It arrives on the author record as a Chinese province name.
